Outreach

ARUW engages with local organizations to increase awareness of our competition and help educate others about STEM opportunities and collegiate robotics.

  • 10/25/25

At the request of Jim Gourley, the IDEA high school FIRST Robotics team came to visit our lab for a tour. Our team gave them multiple demonstrations of our robots and talked about our team dynamics and organizations (sub teams and such). We greatly enjoy having high school students our lab and hope we inspire them to join robotics. Some members from their team were missing due to a scheduling conflict, so we hope that they can come back soon!

  • Oct 13, 2025

For Sonny’s 5th birthday, our team gave Sonny a full lab tour. Sonny was introduced to the shooting mechanisms of our Hero, Balstand, and Standard robots. In addition, we showed Sonny a variety of parts that make up our robots. Sonny did a wonderful job learning how our controllers work and has a great passion for robotics. We hope Sonny and his family enjoyed their visit as much as we did!

  • 7/30/25

At the request of the UW Children’s Center at Portage Bay our club visited the school to give a demonstration of our robots. In this demonstration, we showed how our robots function in an age appropriate manner. We hope that this demonstration inspired children to pursue robotics and engineering!

  • FIRST Washington is a local non-profit organization that organizes FIRST competition events across the pacific northwest. Competitions include FRC (FIRST Robotics competition), FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge), and FLL (FIRST Lego League).

ARUW has visited various FRC events throughout the year to engage with high school students to introduce robotics opportunities beyond high school and talk about careers in robotics and STEM.

  • The Seattle Robotics Society was formed in 1982 to serve those interested in building robots and learning about associated technologies. They are a non-profit entity consisting of a diverse group of technologists and tinkerers.

ARUW presented to the SRS on April 15th, 2023 during one of their monthly meetings to introduce RoboMaster, our technology, and RoboMaster North America 2023 competition that happened in Seattle.
