The Competition

Every year, students from over 200+ universities compete in front of thousands of fans and millions of online viewers for the opportunity to become the next Robomaster. Da-Jiang Innovations Science and Technology Company (DJI) hosts this competition to allow students to push their boundaries and showcase their skills.

In the large arena, robots face each other off to complete challenges and disarm their opponent’s base. Robots are controlled remotely by team members who are called operators. Operators have no view of the arena apart from an onboard camera that provides a first-person view of the field from the perspective of the robot. The objective of each match is to take down the opponent’s robots and/or to disarm the opponent’s base. Robots launch 17mm and 42mm projectiles to deal damage to enemy robots, and the damage is registered by pressure-sensitive plates mounted to each robot.
